PRESS: UAC may design enlarged version of SSJ100 – sources
MOSCOW, Jul 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is considering developing an enlarged version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft, business daily Vedomosti reported Wednesday citing sources.
SSJ100 is a Russian short-haul passenger liner designed to carry 98 passengers over a distance of about 4,400 kilometers. The aircraft made its first flight in May 2008 and was put into commercial operation in 2011.
UAC is considering designing the plane’s version for 115, 120, 125, 130, or 140 seats, sources said.
The start of the project to develop an enlarged version of the SSJ100 is possible only after UAC creates the SSJ100 new aircraft, sources said. SSJ100 new is a modernized liner of the current size, consisting to the maximum of Russian components.
Supplies of SSJ100 new should start in 2023, the daily said.
